I see a lot of people walking, or should I say running, their dogs while they are on their bikes or roller blades. I can’t believe that this is good for the dog, especially in the hot summer months. I don’t think there are too many breeds that should be running non stop for extended periods of time. Can you comment on this?

Now that the nice weather is here, I love to take my dog for walks at night, but I’m a bit worried about safety. Do you have any suggestions?

Please be aware that the ingredient theobromine is at a much more concentrated level in these garden products than in dark chocolate. This makes these types of products toxic to our four legged friends either through direct consumption or from licking their paws after walking through it. Dogs can be attracted to this product because it smells like chocolate. If your dog has ingested this product symptons may be from stomach upset to cardiac arrest. It may takes hours or days for symptons to manifest. If you believe your animal has been exposed to this product and is showing signs of toxicity get in touch with your vet asap or go to emergency. Smaller dogs require much less exposure to experience toxicity than larger dogs.

How can I stop my puppy from eating her poop? She only eats her poop and only when it is fresh.
She will sneak off sometimes poop and eat it in a split second. Other wise I hover over her and pick it up immediately. I have tried the enzyme powder to make it bitter, I have sprayed listerene on it… She digests her food well and her weight is perfect. Sunny is 6 months now and has done this since I adopted her at 9 weeks old. Need some advice, thank you.

Foster or Forever home needed:
Potter is a 7-8 month old Sheltie cross and weighs about 20 lbs. He is in need of an urgent foster home. Potter was badly abused causing both physical and emotional injury and will require special love and TLC. He is currently under vet care and all vet care will be covered by AARF Rescue. He gets along with most everyone, humans and other dogs alike. Because of his abusive past and some health issues, he needs to be in an only one dog home for now. He loves attention and never wants to leave your side. He is food submissive and afraid to eat if you are too close. He will crouch in fear but is NOT aggressive. Potter needs training ‘manners’, routine and structure by a experienced/strong role model who knows how to handle, understand and love him. He is just getting confident enough to play, but has that puppy mouthing thing going on. Potter stopped eating at one point, but is now eager to chow down on a special diet and is gaining weight.
His body is healing both physically and emotionally and we see improvements every day. He loves walks and is very social and wants to play with everyone he meets. Potter does not play with toys or chewies as he was probably abused with them. The thing he seems to like most is cuddling his head into your lap. Potter would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day or works from home. He is an active little guy who is now starting to enjoy life as he should have been.
If you are interested and have the time and the commitment it will take to foster Potter, please send us an email at deannaaarfrescue@yahoo.ca
Please note due to Potter’s small size and vulnerability no children under the age of 15.

I have heard so many opinions about vaccinating or not when it comes to my dog or my new puppy. Does anyone have any information on this subject?

I have a terrible time giving my standard poodle her pills. So many times I find them on the rug the next day thinking that I had managed to get them down her throat. Suggestions on how to do this a little more successfully.

Original Chain Gang Toy Organizer – Pastel
Great organizer for your pet’s toys. It can hang in a closet or behind a door and not take up much room. You can purchase additional clips for those future toy purchases! Keep a supply of toys in a small basket and the rest of them on this organizer. Change them up every so often, they get excited about the toys all over again!
