GSD won’t eat from a bowl.

Hello. I have a 14 month old GSD male. He’s not neutered (although he will be soon). He’s, within the last month or two, decided to stop eating from his bowl. He’s barely eating one meal a day. We’ve tried switching foods and that hasn’t worked either. He’ll only eat if he can knock his food out of his bowl, which is now impossible since we put it in a flat-based bowl. I was wondering if you’ve ever heard of this. If so, what can I do?

Crate Training

I am hoping to adopt a rescue dog in the near future and someone has lent me a crate. I’ve had dogs in the past (long time ago) but this will be my first time using a crate. Other than bedtime and when we have to go out without the dog, are there times the dog should be in her crate?

I’m not sure if this is the place to ask these types of questions. If not, I would appreciate if you could direct me to a more appropriate forum.

I currently live in a house with 2 Labs. They were raised as mostly outdoor dogs but come inside in the evenings and sleep in their crates.

I’m in the process of moving and I’ll be moving to a 1 bedroom apartment. It’s a pretty decent sized apartment though. I have made sure the community has an area for me to take the dogs outside to play and I was lucky to find an apartment with a small fenced yard. I’m wondering how the dogs might handle this change in environment and if I’m doing a bad thing by putting them in a small environment. How can I help them adjust to the new place?

Pre-loss grieving and guilt

I’ve tried to find resources for help with the issues of pre-loss grieving and guilt. Everything I’ve found so far deals with actual pet loss. I’ve really having issues and would like to find some support.

I have two labs, one is 10.5 and one will be 9 next month. I know (hope) I have a lot more time with my dogs, but I’m having a tough time lately coming to terms with their age and dealing with the reality that I will lose them at some point. It’s really tough. In this process, I’ve really come to be hard on myself and asking myself if I’ve been a good owner and if I have given them the life they so deserve. Can you suggest resources for assistance?

Bladder stones

I have two poodles. One is 12 yrs and 17 lbs, the other is 7 lbs and 7 years. They both have liver stones. They are not related. The younger one has has the surgery. Could it be my water? I live in an older house with cast iron pipes. What food should I give them to prevent more? Thanks!
